REFLECTION
Experience
This semester has been a valuable learning experience that pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to grow as a designer. From overcoming challenges with layout design to exploring new areas like typography, animation, and branding, I’ve gained skills that will be essential for future projects. While there were moments of frustration, they were balanced by exciting breakthroughs and a deep sense of accomplishment. I’m excited to keep building on these experiences and continue developing my creativity and technical abilities moving forward.
Observations
This semester, I’ve learned how crucial small details are in design. In Exercise 1, I realized that the spacing between letters and words can dramatically change the feel of a layout. I also discovered that fonts carry meaning, often inspired by nature or abstract ideas. When creating name marks, I focused on balancing readability with visual appeal, especially when zoomed out. Task 2B taught me to maintain harmony in designs, especially for platforms like Instagram, where every element needs to fit together seamlessly. Overall, I’ve become more aware of how each choice in design impacts its clarity and effectiveness.
Findings
This semester taught me that design is about consistency, balance, and clear communication. I learned to step out of my comfort zone, experiment with typography, and create meaningful designs. Good design not only looks appealing but also conveys the right message, a lesson I’ll carry forward in my work.
